Purpose can be defined as the reason why something is done or created, or the reason something exists. I know it may sound cliché, but there is a popular saying that "when the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable". In other words, if you don’t know why you are here, you will live a life without meaning and impact. Everyone on the face of the earth is created with intent in the mind of the Creator; it is only when we find that intention that we really begin to live a life of meaning. There are two most significant days in an individual’s life, the day they are born and the day they discover why. The discovery of your purpose is the major foundation for your success because your results will be obvious to everyone. Everyone has a unique flavor they bring and a problem that they were created to solve. When you have this understanding, it gives you a sense of direction. When you understand why you are here, it helps you submit to the process of becoming.
One of the ways I recommend when answering the question of how to find your purpose is to find your natural habitat, the place where you flourish without effort. The place where you get so much results while others are struggling, this will give you a cue to what problem you are a solution to. Usually your gift is a guide to what you are designed for. I heard someone say that fishes don’t take swimming lessons and birds don’t go to flight school, if you can find that which you have a natural inclination to and you are good at it, you are close to finding purpose.
Another way I recommend is to answer the question of what dissatisfies you? What is it that when done poorly gets you ticked off? Most of the time, the reason you get ticked off is because you know it could have been done better, and you most likely know how to get it done. When you find that area or that niche, you are close to finding what you are here for. You can also get a cue to why you are here by observing what you do and lose track of time when doing it, because you have a natural flare and you enjoy doing it.
Finally, it is very important to find your purpose and align with it. When you do, you make better choices that will enhance the quality of your life, you begin to feel a sense of fulfilment, and you are excited to wake up every day to pursue your dreams. When you know your destination, it helps you determine what and who should go with you. You will make better career choices that will enhance your journey, your choice of a life partner is also influenced because you know the kind of partner who will accelerate your journey and not cause a setback, and your choice of a location becomes easier as well.
If you want to make maximum impact and leave an indelible mark in the sand of times, find your purpose!
